India Sends Aid to Nigeria Amidst Devastating Floods
India has sent 15 tons of humanitarian aid to Nigeria, which is currently facing severe flooding. This aid is part of a total 75 tons of assistance planned by India. The Ministry of External Affairs shared this information on social media, highlighting the aid’s contents, including food, sleeping mats, blankets, and water purification supplies, aimed at supporting rehabilitation efforts.

The United Nations projects that these issues could lead to 33 million people facing food insecurity by 2025. The World Food Programme has called for a large-scale response to address these challenges.

The aid comes ahead of Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to Nigeria, marking the first visit by an Indian Prime Minister in 17 years. India and Nigeria have a strong bilateral relationship, with India emerging as a key development partner through loans and training programs. Over 200 Indian companies have invested significantly in Nigeria, strengthening economic, energy, and defense collaborations.
