India Receives 35,000 AK-203 Rifles from Indo-Russian Joint Venture
Indo-Russian Rifles Private Limited (IRRPL), a joint venture between India and Russia, has successfully delivered 35,000 AK-203 assault rifles to the Indian Army. This production is part of India’s Make in India and Atmanirbhar Bharat Abhiyaan (Self-Reliant India) programs, ensuring 100% localization of AK-203 production.
The project, co-founded by ROSOBORONEXPORT on the Russian side, has completed its first phase, producing AK-203 Kalashnikov assault rifles in India. The necessary equipment was shipped to the Korwa Ordnance Factory in Amethi, Uttar Pradesh, and production facilities are now fully equipped.
Alexander Mikheev, Director General of ROSOBORONEXPORT, emphasized that this setup allowed the timely production and delivery of 35,000 rifles to the Indian Army. The AK-203, a version of the AK-200 rifle, uses the 7.62x39mm cartridge and is known for its reliability and ease of maintenance. The rifles are manufactured in India using exclusive Russian technologies, ensuring high quality and compliance with stated characteristics.
