India, Nepal, and Sri Lanka Join Forces for Historic Buddha Circuit Bike Expedition
In October, armed forces personnel from India, Nepal, and Sri Lanka will participate in a bike expedition along the Buddhist Circuit, tracing the footsteps of enlightenment. The event is organized by the governments of the three nations and the Royal Thai Monastery.
Route and Participants
The bike expedition will start from Lumbini, Nepal, the birthplace of Gautam Buddha, and end in Colombo, Sri Lanka. It will cover seven Indian states: Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Jharkhand, Bengal, Odisha, Telangana, and Tamil Nadu. A total of 21 bikers from the security forces of the three countries will take part.
Key Events
Nepal’s Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli will flag off the expedition in the second week of October. The bikers will travel aboard an Indian Navy ship from Chennai to Kankesanthurai in Sri Lanka’s Jaffna district. The journey will conclude in Colombo with a ceremony attended by Sri Lanka’s President.
Rahul Patil, co-convener of the Heartfulness Buddha Circuit Ride, stated, “This is a historical bike expedition between the tri-nations; India, Nepal, and Sri Lanka. The expedition will be crossing the Indian Ocean supported by the Indian Navy, and we will be driving through Sri Lanka for about 7 days.”
As the bikers travel through various Indian states, welcome and flag-off ceremonies will be held in the presence of the Chief Ministers of each state.
