India Welcomes Pakistan Players for Asian Youth Scrabble Championship
The Ministry of External Affairs in India has clarified reports about visa denials to Pakistani players for the Asian Youth Scrabble Championship in New Delhi. The championship is taking place from November 10 to 12, 2024. Contrary to earlier claims, 12 visas were issued to the Pakistani team on November 7, including the defending Asia Cup champion and the World Youth Champion.
Reports had suggested that the Indian High Commission denied visas to most Pakistani players. This situation arises amidst India’s decision not to travel to Pakistan for the ICC Champions Trophy next year due to security concerns. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has proposed a hybrid model for the tournament, but the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chairman, Mohsin Naqvi, has dismissed any discussions on this model.
