The India International Science Festival (IISF) 2024 is set to take place from November 30 to December 3, 2024, in Guwahati, Assam. This festival is a collaborative effort by the Ministry of Science and Technology and the Ministry of Earth Science of the Government of India, along with Vijnana Bharati, a science movement with a Swadeshi spirit.

The IISF aims to celebrate science and connect all segments of society. It has been organized annually since 2015. The curtain raiser event for IISF 2024 was held at Vivekanand Hall, Pusa Campus, by CSIR-National Institute of Science Communication and Policy Research (NIScPR).

Highlights of the Curtain Raiser

Prof Ranjana Aggarwal, Director of CSIR-NIScPR, welcomed attendees to the 10th edition of IISF, emphasizing the festival’s role in fostering scientific temper as outlined in India’s Constitution. The festival will feature innovative exhibits, including a moon replica, to engage participants, especially students.

Prof AC Pandey, Director of UGC-Inter University Accelerator Centre, highlighted the significance of science and technology in nation-building. He noted that IISF simplifies complex scientific concepts and encourages curiosity among students.

The event included a promotional video and presentations detailing the festival’s themes and objectives. IISF 2024 aims to promote STEM education, encourage innovation, and showcase India’s scientific achievements.
