India Hosts Central Asian Diplomats and Engages in Joint Military Exercises with Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan
The 3rd Special Course for Diplomats from Central Asia is being held at the Sushma Swaraj Institute of Foreign Service in New Delhi from October 14 to 25, 2024. Twenty-eight diplomats from Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, and Uzbekistan are participating. Amb Raj Kumar Srivastava, Dean of SSIFS, inaugurated the course, emphasizing India’s foreign policy principles and historical ties with Central Asia.
The course covers topics like India’s relations with Central Asia, global politics, defense partnerships, and sustainable development. Simultaneously, high-level delegations are visiting Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan to strengthen defense cooperation.
Joint Military Exercises with Kazakhstan
The Indian and Kazakhstan armies are participating in the 8th edition of Exercise KAZIND 2024, focusing on counter-terrorism operations. The exercise, held from September 30 to October 13, 2024, aims to enhance military capabilities and interoperability between the two nations.
Defense Cooperation with Uzbekistan
A delegation from the Higher Defence Management Course is visiting Uzbekistan to discuss bilateral defense ties. India and Uzbekistan have a history of defense cooperation, participating in joint military exercises like DUSTLIK. Recent meetings have further strengthened these ties, focusing on training and capacity building.
