India Helps Build New Dormitory for Monastic School in Nepal
The foundation stone for a new dormitory at Lowo Nyiphug Namdrol Norbuling Monastic School in Nepal was laid on Friday. The ceremony was attended by Naveen Srivastava, the Indian Ambassador to Nepal, and Tasi Nharbu Gurung, Chairman of Lomanthang Rural Municipality.
The dormitory is being built with financial assistance from the Government of India, costing NRs 41.40 million. This project is part of the ‘Nepal-India Development Cooperation’ and is considered a High Impact Community Development Project (HICDP).
Political representatives, government officials, social workers, and school management representatives were also present at the event. The new building aims to provide better education and accommodation for the students, contributing to the development of education and religious care in the region.
Since 2003, the Government of India has undertaken over 551 HICDPs in Nepal, completing 490 projects. In Gandaki Province alone, 59 projects have been completed, including 17 in Mustang. Additionally, India has gifted 1009 ambulances and 300 school buses to various institutions in Nepal.
This initiative highlights the strong development partnership between India and Nepal, reflecting India’s continued support in uplifting the people of Nepal and enhancing infrastructure in priority sectors.
