On October 17, the Ministry of External Affairs in India confirmed that a person named in a US Justice Department case is no longer employed by the Indian government. This individual was allegedly involved in a plot to assassinate Gurpatwant Singh Pannun, a terrorist designated by India. MEA spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal stated that the US informed them about the individual’s employment status.

The US Justice Department accused an Indian national, Nikhil Gupta, of being part of the assassination plot. Gupta, who was extradited from the Czech Republic to the US, pleaded not guilty. The plot was foiled by US authorities.

India formed a high-level inquiry committee to address security concerns raised by the US. The US State Department expressed satisfaction with India’s cooperation in the investigation, noting that the person involved is no longer an Indian government employee.

Pannun is a pro-Khalistani terrorist with American and Canadian citizenship. The plot against him was allegedly orchestrated by an Indian government employee and Gupta.
