India Condemns Zakir Naik’s Visit to Pakistan
The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) of India has expressed disappointment over fugitive Islamic preacher Zakir Naik’s visit to Pakistan. MEA spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal stated that it is not surprising that Naik, who is wanted in India, received a warm welcome in Pakistan. Jaiswal mentioned that it is unclear on what documents Naik traveled to Pakistan. The issue of Naik was previously discussed with Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim during his visit to India.
Zakir Naik arrived in Pakistan on Monday, invited by the Pakistani government for a lecture series in Islamabad, Karachi, and Lahore. He was greeted at the New Islamabad Airport by high-ranking officials, including Rana Mashhood and Syed Atta-ur-Rehman. Naik also met with Pakistan Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif.
Naik is known for his controversial speeches and is wanted by India’s National Investigation Agency for a 2016 money laundering case. His channel, PeaceTV, is banned in several countries due to its inflammatory content.
