India Expresses Concern Over Attacks in Bangladesh

Incidents in Dhaka and Satkhira

India has expressed serious concern over recent attacks on a Puja mandap in Dhaka and a theft at the Jeshoreshwari Kali temple in Satkhira, Bangladesh. The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) spokesperson, Randhir Jaiswal, described these as “deplorable acts” and urged the Bangladesh government to ensure the safety of Hindus and other minorities.

Attack on Puja Mandap

A crude bomb was thrown at a Durga Puja Mandap in Tantibazar, Dhaka, causing a minor fire but no injuries. The bomb was made using a glass bottle filled with petrol. The attack, which injured five people, occurred around 7 pm local time. Police have detained three individuals and are investigating the incident.

Theft at Jeshoreshwari Kali Temple

A crown, gifted by Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi in 2021, was stolen from the Jeshoreshwari Kali temple. The theft happened on Thursday afternoon, and the temple’s CCTV footage is being reviewed to identify the thief. The crown holds significant cultural and religious value.

The Indian High Commission in Bangladesh has urged local authorities to investigate both incidents and ensure the safety of religious sites.
