In Ranchi, Jharkhand, the INDIA bloc, comprising Congress, Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM), Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD), and CPI-M, released a joint manifesto ahead of the assembly polls. The manifesto promises seven key guarantees, including LPG cylinders for Rs 450 and 10 lakh jobs. The announcement was made in the presence of Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge, Jharkhand in-charge Ghulam Ahmed Mir, and Chief Minister Hemant Soren.

  • LPG cylinders for Rs 450 per family and 7 kg ration per person.
  • Policy based on the 1932 Khatiyan and implementation of the Sarna Religion Code.
  • An honorarium of Rs 2,500 for women.

Educational and Agricultural Initiatives

The alliance also plans to build degree colleges in all blocks and engineering, medical colleges, and universities in district headquarters. The MSP of paddy will be increased to Rs 3,200, with other agricultural products seeing a 50% rise.

Political Context

Chief Minister Hemant Soren emphasized the importance of these guarantees, while Mallikarjun Kharge assured they are feasible within the budget. The elections will be held in two phases on November 13 and 20, with results on November 23. The current assembly’s term ends on January 5, 2025.
