India Beats Zimbabwe by 10 Wickets: Sikandar Raza Comments on Pitch Conditions

Zimbabwe’s captain Sikandar Raza commented on the pitch conditions after his team’s 10-wicket loss to India. He noted that the use of a roller during the mid-inning break improved the pitch for India’s batsmen. Despite a solid start by Zimbabwe, India chased down the target of 153 with ease, thanks to half-centuries from Yashasvi Jaiswal and Shubman Gill. India now leads the series 3-1 with one game remaining.

Match Highlights

In the match, India won the toss and put Zimbabwe to bat first. Zimbabwe’s openers Wessly Madhevere and Tadiwanashe Marumani gave a steady start with a 63-run partnership. Skipper Sikandar Raza scored 46 runs, helping Zimbabwe post a total of 152/7 in 20 overs.

For India, Khaleel Ahmed was the standout bowler with figures of 2/32. Shivam Dube, Abhishek Sharma, Washington Sundar, and debutant Tushar Deshpande each took a wicket.

During the run chase, Indian openers Yashasvi Jaiswal and Shubman Gill led the team to victory. Jaiswal scored an unbeaten 93, while Gill remained not out at 58. India won with all 10 wickets in hand and 28 balls to spare.

Post-Match Comments

During the post-match presentation, Raza said, “I think the wicket was a bit damp, and we thought 160 was par. But with the way they batted, even 180 would not have been enough. We keep growing and learning from each game.” He added, “The heavy roller in the innings break did the trick for them, it became a beautiful wicket and they could play on the up.”

With this win, India has an unassailable 3-1 series lead over Zimbabwe, with one game remaining.
