India Announces Squad for Border-Gavaskar Trophy Against Australia

India has revealed its team for the upcoming Border-Gavaskar Trophy series against Australia, starting next month. Notably, right-arm seamer Mohammed Shami is absent due to an ankle injury sustained after the ODI World Cup 2023.

New Faces in the Squad

The squad includes new players like Abhimanyu Easwaran, Nitish Kumar Reddy, and Harshit Rana. Nitish Reddy impressed with a stellar performance in a T20I series against Bangladesh, scoring 74 runs and taking two wickets. Abhimanyu Easwaran has been in great form, scoring 632 runs in eight innings since the Duleep Trophy. Harshit Rana is yet to make his debut for the national team.

Unavailable Players

Kuldeep Yadav is unavailable for the series as he is undergoing treatment for a chronic groin issue at the BCCI Centre of Excellence.

Leadership and Schedule

Rohit Sharma will lead the team, with Jasprit Bumrah as vice-captain. The series will begin on November 22 in Perth, followed by Tests in Adelaide, Brisbane, Melbourne, and Sydney, concluding on January 7.
