India and Vietnam Join Forces for VINBAX 2024 Military Exercise
The 5th Edition of the Vietnam Indian Bilateral Army Exercise, known as “VINBAX 2024,” is taking place in Ambala, India. This exercise involves troops from both the Indian Army and the Vietnam People’s Army (VPA). They are being trained on how to use engineering and medical teams in United Nations missions.
The exercise, running from November 4 to 23, aims to improve the joint military capabilities of both countries. It focuses on engineering tasks as part of peacekeeping operations under the United Nations Charter. This year’s exercise is a follow-up to a previous one held in Vietnam in 2023 and marks a significant step in strengthening the relationship between India and Vietnam.
For the first time, the exercise includes participation from both the Army and Air Force of each country. The Indian Army is represented by 47 personnel from the Corps of Engineers and other services, while the Vietnamese contingent has a similar number of troops from the Vietnam People’s Army.
The exercise will also feature a 48-hour validation exercise, including a demonstration of humanitarian assistance and disaster relief, as well as an equipment display. This will help assess the standards achieved by both contingents in executing technical military operations in United Nations missions.
Additionally, the joint exercise provides an opportunity for troops to learn about each other’s social and cultural heritage.
