The 20th edition of the Joint Military Exercise Yudh Abhyas 2024 between India and the USA is taking place at the Foreign Training Node, Mahajan Field Firing Ranges in Rajasthan from September 9 to 22. This exercise aims to improve cooperation and interoperability between the Indian Army and the US military.

Details of the Exercise

The exercise started on September 9 and will continue until September 22. Around 600 troops from the RAJPUT Regiment of the Indian Army, along with personnel from other arms and services, are participating. The US is represented by troops from the 1-24 Battalion of the Alaska-based 11th Airborne Division.

Objectives and Activities

The main goal of Yudh Abhyas 2024 is to enhance the joint military capability of both nations to conduct counterterrorism operations. The exercise includes tactical drills, joint planning, and combined field training exercises that simulate real-world counter-terrorism missions.

According to the Ministry of Defence, this annual exercise has been held since 2004, alternating between India and the USA.
