India and Thailand Complete Maitree 2024 Military Exercise

The 13th edition of the joint military exercise Maitree 2024 between the Indian Army and the Royal Thailand Army concluded with a grand closing ceremony in Tak Province, Thailand. The event was attended by Major General Narongrit Panikabutr, Commander of the 4th Infantry Division of the Royal Thailand Army, and Group Captain Brijesh Paul, Defence Attache to Thailand.

Major General Narongrit Panikabutr praised the dedication and proficiency of both armies, emphasizing the importance of the exercise in strengthening defence cooperation and promoting regional security and peace. Lieutenant Colonel Mandan Ojha, Contingent Commander of the Indian Army, expressed gratitude to the Royal Thailand Army for hosting the exercise and highlighted the mutual benefits gained from the exchange of best practices and expertise.

The two-week event included a variety of tactical activities such as weapon training, day and night firing, rappelling, jungle survival techniques, navigation training, communication exercises, combat first aid, and casualty evacuation drills. These activities not only enhanced the tactical skills of the participants but also deepened the friendship between the armed forces of India and Thailand.

In a post on X, the Indian Army stated that the exercise facilitated enhanced synergy in joint tactical operations in jungle and urban environments, bolstering interoperability between the two armed forces.
