India and South Africa Face Off in T20 World Cup Final at Kensington Oval
India and South Africa are set to compete in the T20 World Cup final at Kensington Oval in Bridgetown, Barbados. This will be the third final in an ICC tournament for India’s head coach Rahul Dravid and skipper Rohit Sharma in just about a year. Previously, Australia defeated India in the ODI World Cup and World Test Championship finals, but this time, Australia is not in the final.
South Africa, led by Aiden Markram, will be looking to spoil India’s dominant run in the tournament. India has defeated strong teams like Australia, Pakistan, and England, while South Africa had close calls against Bangladesh and Nepal in the group stage and nearly lost to the West Indies in the Super 8. However, they broke their semi-final jinx by defeating Afghanistan in the semi-final.
The final will be played on a pitch at Kensington Oval that favors pacers, with 59 wickets falling at an average of 20.22 and an economy rate of 7.88. There is also a threat of rain, but a reserve day is in place. Regardless of the outcome, the T20 World Cup will see a historic winner as no team has ever won the tournament unbeaten.
