India and Germany Team Up for Renewable Energy Talks in New Delhi
The German Embassy in New Delhi is hosting an important event called ‘Financing the Renewable Energy Revolution’ under the Indo-German Partnership for Green and Sustainable Development (GSDP). This event is part of the International Solar Festival at Bharat Mandapam, New Delhi.
The GSDP Conversation Series aims to discuss India’s renewable energy goals, focusing on political, financial, and social aspects. India is working towards generating 500 GW of renewable energy and 125 GW of green hydrogen by 2030. This event will explore the financial investments, political frameworks, and social initiatives needed for this transition.
Uwe Gehlen, Head of Development Cooperation at the German Embassy, emphasized Germany’s commitment to renewable energy and its partnership with India. He said, ‘Our partnership with India is not just about technology transfer; it is about supporting India’s leadership in this global energy transition.’
Dr. Ajay Mathur, Director General of the International Solar Alliance (ISA), highlighted the importance of global cooperation. He said, ‘The partnership between India and Germany can significantly accelerate the deployment of renewable technologies like solar, ensuring accessible and affordable energy for all.’
The event will feature speakers from the Indian Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE) and will cover topics like international collaboration, de-risking investments, skill development, and political commitments. This event is a precursor to RE-INVEST 2024, which will showcase India’s renewable energy potential to the world.
