India and France Team Up for AI Development, Says Amelie de Montchalin

Amelie de Montchalin, France’s Permanent Representative to the OECD, highlighted the collaboration between India and France in AI development. Both nations share a vision of AI as a tool for development, innovation, and prosperity. They aim to ensure AI benefits everyone globally.

Montchalin praised India’s digital public infrastructure and the Global IndiaAI Summit, emphasizing ongoing cooperation and future events like the AI Action Summit in 2025.

Shared Vision and Values

Montchalin noted that India and France have similar digital public infrastructures and values. She emphasized the importance of maintaining control over technologies and ensuring AI serves all people worldwide.

Global Partnership on AI

Both countries are part of the global partnership on AI, focusing on using AI for good, addressing climate change, agriculture, smart cities, and water resources. They aim to make AI solutions open and accessible to developing and emerging countries.

Future Collaborations

Montchalin lauded the Global IndiaAI Summit and mentioned the upcoming AI Action Summit in Paris in February 2025, where India will be invited. She expressed optimism about the continued collaboration between the two nations.

The Global IndiaAI Summit, held in New Delhi on July 3-4, focuses on key pillars of the AI ecosystem, including Compute Capacity, Foundational Models, Datasets, Application Development, Future Skills, Startup Financing, and Safe and Trusted AI.
