Vice Chief of Naval Staff, Vice Admiral Krishna Swaminathan, praised the recent agreement between India and China regarding patrolling along the Line of Actual Control (LAC) in eastern Ladakh. He emphasized the complexity of reaching such settlements due to various national security concerns.

Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri announced the agreement during a media briefing before Prime Minister Modi’s visit to Russia for the BRICS Summit. The agreement aims to resolve issues that arose after the 2020 actions by the Chinese military in eastern Ladakh.

Misri highlighted that discussions with Chinese interlocutors, including military commanders, have led to this agreement, which is expected to result in disengagement and resolution of the standoffs.
