New Delhi, India – June 23: India and Bangladesh have decided to work together on advanced technologies like nuclear, oceanography, and space. They will create a small satellite for Bangladesh and launch it using an Indian rocket. India will also offer e-Medical Visas to Bangladeshi people seeking medical treatment in India.

New Consulate in Rangpur

India will open a new Assistant High Commission in Rangpur, Bangladesh, to make visa and consular services faster for people in the north-west region of Bangladesh.

Water Resource Management

Both countries will share water data and work on managing the Teesta River in Bangladesh with India’s help.

Future Partnerships

During Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’s visit to India, both nations announced new plans for digital and green partnerships. These plans align with India’s ‘Viksit Bharat 2047’ and Bangladesh’s ‘Smart Bangladesh Vision 2041’.

Trade and Investment

India and Bangladesh will strengthen trade and investment ties. They plan to start talks for a Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA) and open new Special Economic Zones (SEZs) in Mongla and Mirsharai, Bangladesh.

Energy Collaboration

Both countries will expand their power and energy cooperation, including clean energy projects. They will develop a high-capacity power connection between Katihar, Parbatipur, and Bornagar with Indian financial help.

State Visit Highlights

Bangladesh PM Sheikh Hasina arrived in India on June 21 for a two-day visit. She was welcomed by Kirtivardhan Singh, the new Minister of State for External Affairs. This was the first state visit after PM Narendra Modi started his third term. Sheikh Hasina also met President Droupadi Murmu and Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar.

Strong Partnership

Both leaders, PM Modi and PM Hasina, discussed the strong historical, cultural, and economic ties between their countries. They emphasized the importance of their partnership, which is based on shared values and mutual respect.
