India and Bangladesh Border Forces Team Up to Reduce Border Incidents
The border guarding forces of India and Bangladesh have agreed to work together to reduce incidents of violence against Border Security Force (BSF) personnel by criminals from Bangladesh. This decision was made during a Sector Commander-level meeting held at the Border Outpost Hili of the 61 Battalion of BSF in Dakshin Dinajpur, West Bengal.
Key Decisions
Both sides agreed to:
- Increase coordinated patrols, especially during late hours of the night to early morning in vulnerable areas.
- Educate the bordering population about the importance of the International Border.
- Enhance joint patrolling and vigilance.
- Intensify public awareness programs.
- Undertake socio-economic development programs.
- Share real-time information to reduce border incidents.

The Indian delegation was led by Mohinder Singh, DIG, Sector Commander, Raiganj, BSF, and the Bangladesh delegation was led by Md Ariful Haque, Sector Commander, Dinajpur Sector, BGB.
Commitment to Cooperation
Both sides emphasized the need for synergistic efforts to uphold human rights and curb violence at the border. They appreciated each other’s concerns and committed to settling border issues amicably through continued, constructive, and positive engagements at all levels.
