India and Albania Strengthen Ties with Bilateral Consultations in Tirana
On October 31, India and Albania held important Bilateral Consultations in Tirana, Albania. The Indian delegation was led by Arun Kumar Sahu, Additional Secretary (Central Europe) from the Ministry of External Affairs, while the Albanian side was led by Endrit Yzeiraj, Deputy Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs of Albania.
During the consultations, both countries discussed a wide range of topics, including political relations, trade, cultural exchanges, and people-to-people contacts. They also talked about cooperation in international forums and shared views on regional and global issues of mutual interest.
Arun Kumar Sahu also met with Olta Manjani, Albania’s Deputy Minister of Economy, Culture, and Innovation, to discuss trade, investment, tourism, and cultural relations.
India and Albania have enjoyed diplomatic relations since 1956, characterized by positive and future-oriented interactions. The bilateral trade between the two nations has been growing, with key trade items including petroleum products, engineering goods, and pharmaceuticals.
Both countries participate in cultural exchange programs and celebrate events like International Yoga Day. Recent high-level meetings include discussions between India’s External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar and Albania’s Foreign Minister Igli Hasani, as well as participation in international summits.
