Imran Khan’s Party Faces Internal Conflict: Omar Ayub vs Sher Afzal Marwat

A conflict has emerged within Imran Khan’s party, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), as an internal report blames Sher Afzal Marwat for a scuffle with Omar Ayub Khan. The incident occurred outside a court in Islamabad after the court rejected pleas from Imran Khan and his wife.

The scuffle happened when Marwat wanted to lead a protest rally with Khan’s support, causing Omar Ayub to leave in disbelief. Marwat, known for his blunt remarks, has been at the center of attention and was removed from PTI’s core and political committees. He received a show-cause notice for his outspoken comments.

Despite the reports, Marwat downplayed the split on social media, asserting the party’s unity under Khan’s leadership. He stated that differences on specific issues are normal and those spreading rumors are anti-PTI.

Earlier, Omar Ayub resigned as PTI Secretary General, and Marwat demanded Senator Shibli Faraz’s resignation, accusing certain people of monopolizing access to the party leader. The internal report will be presented to Imran Khan on July 2.

Last week, a court in Islamabad upheld the seven-year sentences of Imran Khan and his wife in the Iddat case. The couple was also sentenced to 14 years in the Toshakhana case, and Imran Khan and Shah Mahmood Qureshi received 10 years in the Cypher case.
