Imran Khan Considers Hunger Strike Over Justice Denial

Former Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan, who founded the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) party, is thinking about going on a hunger strike if he continues to be denied justice. PTI has asked Chief Justice of Pakistan Qazi Faez Isa to step down from cases involving the party.

Imran Khan, who served as Prime Minister from 2018 to 2022, spoke to reporters after attending court proceedings in a corruption case. He emphasized that decisions should be made fairly, as all citizens are equal before the law. Khan’s legal team wants cases involving PTI to be moved away from Courtroom 1.

Khan also claimed that Adiala Jail, where he has been held since August 2023, is managed by military officers who prevented him from meeting PTI leaders. He said he would advise his party leaders to keep internal disputes private to focus on their main goals.

PTI Central Information Secretary Raoof Hasan and PTI lawyer Shoaib Shaheen both demanded that Chief Justice Isa recuse himself from PTI-related cases. PTI leader Shaukat Basra mentioned that all 180 PTI Members of National Assembly and Provincial Assembly would appear in court to express their concerns.
