Imran Khan and Bushra Bibi’s Bail Verdict Awaited in Toshakhana-II Case
In Rawalpindi, Pakistan, a court has reserved its decision on the bail plea of Imran Khan, the founder of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), and his wife, Bushra Bibi, in the Toshakhana-II case. The hearing was presided over by Special Central Judge Shah Rukh Arjumand, where both the defense and prosecution presented their arguments. The verdict is expected to be announced on November 12.
Previously, the Federal Investigation Authority (FIA) challenged Bushra Bibi’s bail in the Supreme Court, arguing that it violated guidelines as it was granted in the Islamabad High Court judge’s chamber. Bushra Bibi was released from Adiala Jail on bail after being imprisoned for nine months, with a bail amount set at PKR 10 lacs. Her release is significant as she now plays a crucial role in PTI’s leadership with Imran Khan still in custody.
The Toshakhana-II case is linked to the Toshakhana-I case, where Imran Khan was accused of not disclosing gifts received during his tenure as Prime Minister and allegedly selling them, causing a loss to the national treasury. The prosecution highlighted a Bulgari set gifted by the Saudi Crown Prince, which was allegedly undervalued and not deposited in the national treasury.
