Imran Khan and Bushra Bibi Face New Charges in Toshakhana Case
Islamabad [Pakistan], September 23: Pakistan’s investigative agency has submitted a supplementary challan in the Toshakhana case against former Prime Minister Imran Khan and his wife Bushra Bibi. The challan, filed with Special Judge Central, includes a list of 24 witnesses.
According to the FIA challan, there is hard evidence against the couple, demonstrating that they allegedly used corruption to obtain financial benefits. The evidence suggests that Imran Khan acquired a Bulgarian necklace at a lower rate from Toshakhana by using his position.
The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) has also charged Khan and Bushra Bibi with unauthorized selling of valuable items like designer watches and gold and diamond jewelry. They were accused of selling these gifts without proving ownership or placing them in Toshakhana as required by law.
On July 13, hours after their acquittal in the Iddat case, Imran Khan and Bushra Bibi were taken into custody by a NAB team led by Deputy Director Mohsin Haroon from Adiala Jail. Imran Khan, who served as Pakistan’s Prime Minister from 2018 to 2022, has been in Adiala Jail since August 2023 on multiple charges, including the Toshakhana case, the cypher case, and the unlawful marriage case. His wife has also been in prison for months.
