In Hyderabad, Telangana, the Drugs Control Administration, along with the Commissioner’s Task Force and Market Police Station staff, conducted a raid on July 10 in Secunderabad. They seized illegally stocked Termin Injections (Mephentermine Sulphate Injection) from MD. Khasim. These injections were being sold to gym-goers for misuse in bodybuilding.

Mephentermine Sulphate Injection is a cardiac stimulant used to treat low blood pressure during surgeries. However, it was being abused to enhance endurance in bodybuilding, leading to potential adverse effects like psychosis and cardiovascular disorders. The seized injections were worth Rs. 3,000/-. Officers B Govind Singh and G. Anil led the raid.

In another incident, the Telangana Drug Control Administration seized overpriced antifungal medicine, ‘CANDIFACE-200 Capsules’ (Itraconazole Capsules 200 mg), in Nagole Village, Uppal Mandal. The capsules were sold at Rs. 27.50 each, exceeding the government-set ceiling price of Rs. 24.77 per capsule. This overpricing violated the Drugs (Prices Control) Order, 2013. Officers Dr B. Lakshmi Narayana and B Praveen conducted the raid.

Further investigations are ongoing, and legal actions will be taken against the offenders.
