Guwahati, Assam – The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Guwahati has partnered with Airbus India Private Limited to enhance aviation and logistics education in Assam. This collaboration aims to improve the socio-economic landscape of the northeastern region of India.

Key Agreements and Goals

A Non-Disclosure Agreement (NDA) was signed between Prof. Devendra Jalihal, Director of IIT Guwahati, and Remi Maillard, President and Managing Director of Airbus India Private Limited. This partnership aligns with the Government of India’s UDAAN Scheme, which aims to foster development and socio-economic reforms across the country.

Prof. Devendra Jalihal stated, “This initiative will empower the youth of Assam and the northeastern region, fostering innovation, economic growth, and a brighter future for all.”

Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma highlighted the need for skilled professionals in aviation and logistics. He said, “This partnership will not only promote knowledge sharing but also shape the future of the aviation industry.”

Future Plans

IIT Guwahati will establish a Global Skilling Centre in Aviation and Logistics to address the shortage of skilled professionals. This center will provide comprehensive training and development programs to meet industry demands.

Implementation and Impact

In the initial phase, Airbus will supply trainers, training materials, and tools for short-term courses. IIT Guwahati faculty will then conduct ‘Train the Trainer’ programs to independently deliver Airbus courses. The partnership plans to co-curate long-term courses in the later phase.

This collaboration aims to enhance employment opportunities and career advancement for individuals in the northeastern region while improving service quality in the aviation and logistics industries.
