IIM Shillong Celebrates 18th Foundation Day
The Indian Institute of Management Shillong marked its 18th Foundation Day with a ceremony that introduced new initiatives for community development and education in Northeast India. The event was attended by notable figures including Meghalaya Governor C.H. Vijayashankar and Ashish Kumar Chauhan, MD & CEO of the National Stock Exchange.
New Initiatives Unveiled
Three major initiatives were launched, highlighting IIM Shillong’s dedication to value-based management education. The Nurturing Minds School Adoption Initiative partners with two schools in the East Khasi Hills District to enhance the learning environment and community ties.
In collaboration with the Small Industries Development Bank of India, the Skill To Enterprise Model (STEM) programme was introduced to support 30 businesses in the Northeast with training and financial assistance. The Northeast Enterprise Empowerment Venture (NEEV) programme aims to support community enterprises and address regional challenges like climate change and migration.
Panel Discussions
The event featured panel sessions on ‘Developing Agile Leaders’ and ‘Future of Work,’ with industry experts discussing the future of management education and industry expectations.
Commitment to Growth
Shishir Kumar Bajoria, Chairman of the Board of Governors, emphasized IIM Shillong’s role in shaping management education. Prof. D.P. Goyal, Director of IIM Shillong, reflected on the institute’s growth and focus on sustainability and leadership.
