IFFCO Launches Big Campaign to Promote Nano Fertilisers in India

New Delhi, July 2: The Indian Farmers Fertiliser Cooperative Limited (IFFCO) has started a major campaign called the Nano Fertiliser Usage Promotion Mahaabhiyan. This initiative aims to encourage farmers to use nano-fertilisers in their fields.

What is the Campaign About?

IFFCO has chosen 200 model nano village clusters and is giving farmers in 800 villages a 25% discount on Nano Urea Plus, Nano DAP, and Sagarika fertilisers. Additionally, IFFCO will provide a grant of Rs 100 per acre to drone entrepreneurs to make spraying fertilisers cheaper for farmers.

Prime Minister’s Support

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has also launched a 100-day action plan to boost the use of nano fertilisers. This plan includes 1270 demonstrations of Nano DAP in 413 districts and 200 trials of Nano Urea Plus in 100 districts. These trials will be supported by various agricultural institutions and monitored by the Union Government.

How Will Farmers Benefit?

IFFCO will supply nano fertilisers to cooperative societies and other sales outlets. They are also providing 2500 agricultural drones for spraying nano fertilisers. Contracts have been made with 15 institutions to spray 245 lakh acres of farmland using drones. Farmers will receive an incentive of Rs 100 per acre for each spray.

Production and Distribution

From August 2021 to June 2024, farmers have used 7.55 crore bottles of Nano Urea and 0.69 crore bottles of Nano DAP produced by IFFCO. For 2024-25, IFFCO aims to produce 4 crore bottles of Nano Urea Plus and 2 crore bottles of Nano DAP. The campaign plans to distribute 6 crore bottles of nano fertilisers through 36,000 member cooperative societies.

Environmental Benefits

Using nano fertilisers can improve soil health, reduce water and air pollution, and increase crop production and quality. It also helps in reducing the use of conventional fertilisers and the incidence of pests and diseases. This initiative supports the concept of ‘self-reliant agriculture’ and ‘self-reliant India’ while protecting the environment.
