In Hyderabad, unidentified attackers vandalized the idol of the goddess in Bhoolaxmi temple, located in Rakshapuram, Santosh Nagar police station limits, on Monday night. A large crowd gathered at the temple, raising slogans against the attack.

Police Action

Police officials, including DCP South East Kanti Lal Patil, arrived at the scene to control the situation. DCP Patil stated, “This incident occurred on Monday between 11.30 pm and 12 pm in the night under the Santosh Nagar police station limits. Police took immediate action and took two people into custody after police had done the tracking through CCTV. Out of that one person is the main responsible. The investigation is in progress.”

Ongoing Investigation

DCP Patil mentioned that the preliminary investigation revealed the names of two individuals. He assured that all responsible for the vandalism would be apprehended. Currently, there is no evidence of political motive behind the attack.

Political Reaction

BJP Bhagya Nagar district president Samreddy Surender Reddy stated that the incident occurred in Chandrayanagutta Assembly Constituency, Riyasat Nagar division, Rakshapuram colony. He claimed that the local corporator and his associates were involved in the vandalism. Reddy noted that this was the fifth attack on the temple in five years, with the idol being destroyed this time. He criticized the lack of police patrolling despite the temple being just 50 square yards away from the police station. Reddy also suggested that the corporator and a nearby pan shop owner should be interrogated.
