IDF Chief Herzi Halevi Warns Hezbollah of Imminent Ground Offensive

Tel Aviv [Israel], September 26: Israel Defense Force (IDF) Chief of Staff Herzi Halevi has issued a stern warning to Hezbollah, stating that a ground offensive is imminent. Halevi’s remarks came after Hezbollah fired a missile at central Israel early Wednesday, prompting Israeli airstrikes that resulted in 569 deaths and 1,835 injuries.

During a drill simulating an invasion, Halevi addressed soldiers of the 7th Armored Brigade, emphasizing the continuous airstrikes to prepare for a potential ground entry into Lebanon. He stated, “You can hear the planes above, we are attacking all day. Both to prepare the area for the possibility of your entry [into Lebanon], and also to continue causing blows to Hezbollah.”

Halevi highlighted the strategy of invasion, noting that Israeli soldiers would enter enemy territory to dismantle Hezbollah’s military outposts and infrastructure. He assured the soldiers of their superior skills and experience, stating, “You are coming in much stronger and far more experienced than they are. You will go in, destroy the enemy there, and decisively destroy their infrastructure.”

Meanwhile, Hezbollah confirmed launching a Qadr 1 ballistic missile targeting Israel’s intelligence service Mossad in Tel Aviv, which was shot down. In Gaza, the Health Ministry reported at least 50 Palestinians killed and dozens wounded in the latest 24-hour period of Israeli attacks.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is currently in New York for the United Nations General Assembly, with talks of a potential temporary ceasefire with Hezbollah being a key motivator for his trip. An Israeli official noted that the main reason for Netanyahu’s trip is these diplomatic talks, with Israel favoring a diplomatic solution.
