ICC Satisfied with Pakistan’s Preparations for Champions Trophy 2024
The International Cricket Council (ICC) has expressed satisfaction with the Pakistan Cricket Board’s (PCB) preparations for the upcoming Champions Trophy, scheduled for next year. Naqvi has invited ICC board members to visit Pakistan to review the preparations. However, there are challenges, particularly concerning India’s participation due to ongoing tensions between the two countries. India has not played in Pakistan since the 2008 Asia Cup due to strained relations.
The ICC is considering three options for hosting the tournament: proceeding as planned in Pakistan, adopting a hybrid model with some matches in the UAE, or relocating the entire event to another country such as Dubai, Sri Lanka, or South Africa. Pakistan has not hosted a major ICC event since the 1996 ODI World Cup.
