ICC Announces Affordable Tickets for Women’s T20 World Cup 2024 in UAE
The International Cricket Council (ICC) has revealed that tickets for the Women’s T20 World Cup 2024 in the UAE will be very affordable, starting at just five dirhams. Additionally, entry will be free for those under 18 years old. This initiative aims to create a lasting legacy for the tournament in the UAE.
To celebrate this announcement, the ICC showcased a stunning laser show on the iconic Burj Khalifa. ICC Chief Executive Geoff Allardice expressed his excitement, stating, “One of the exciting things about the UAE is its diversity. It is a place where the entire world is represented! This means that this is effectively a home World Cup for all 10 teams, and players can enjoy the support of passionate fans.”
The tournament will feature 10 teams divided into two groups of five, competing in 23 matches over 18 days. Group A includes Australia, India, New Zealand, Pakistan, and Sri Lanka, while Group B comprises Bangladesh, England, South Africa, the West Indies, and Scotland. The matches will be held across Dubai and Sharjah, starting with Bangladesh vs. Scotland on October 3.
The semi-finals are scheduled for October 17 in Dubai and October 18 in Sharjah, with the final set for October 20 in Dubai. Teams will also participate in warm-up matches from September 28 to October 1.
Emirates Cricket Board (ECB) Board Member Zaid Abbas expressed his enthusiasm about hosting the tournament, stating, “The Emirates Cricket Board is delighted to stage the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup in the UAE. The Emirates Cricket Board has rich experience and the proven pedigree of hosting top-class cricket, and we are once again ready to deliver another world-class event.”
India has announced their squad for the tournament, with Harmanpreet Kaur as captain and Smriti Mandhana as vice-captain. India will start their campaign against New Zealand on October 4, with a highly anticipated match against Pakistan on October 6.
