IAS Officer Puja Khedkar Faces Footpath Encroachment Notice in Pune

Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) officials have issued a notice to IAS probationary officer Puja Khedkar’s mother, Manorama Khedkar, for illegally encroaching on a footpath at their residence. The notice, posted on the gate of their home, demands the removal of the encroachment within seven days, failing which the PMC will take necessary action.

The PMC’s Encroachment Department reported unauthorized construction on public roads or footpaths near Khedkar’s bungalow. Despite attempts to contact the family, officials received no response and pasted the notice on the wall.

Meanwhile, Puja Khedkar, a 2023 batch IAS officer, has been at the center of controversy due to multiple allegations, including misuse of power and submitting fake certificates. She has refused to comment on the central government’s probe into her candidature. The Ministry of Personnel has set up a single-member committee to verify her claims, which will submit its report in two weeks.

Khedkar, who secured an All India Rank (AIR) of 841 in the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) exam, was transferred to Washim from Pune following the allegations. She was also accused of using a private Audi car with a red-blue beacon light and VIP number plate, and demanding facilities not available to probationary officers.
