Hyderabad police have arrested an interstate mobile theft gang consisting of six people from MS Maqta, along with one home guard and two constables. They seized 15 phones from their possession on Tuesday.

Details of the Arrest

How the Gang Operated

According to the police, the gang was led by Rahul Kumar Yadav from Theenpahar village in Jharkhand. He formed the gang and sent members to various parts of India, including Hyderabad, Surat, Lucknow, Ranchi, Belur, Chennai, Varanasi, Nagpur, and Patna. They targeted crowded places like vegetable markets and Metro trains to steal phones.

The gang members would distract victims and steal phones from their pockets. They would then quickly move to another crowded place to continue their thefts. Once they had stolen around 50-60 phones, they informed Rahul Kumar Yadav, who sent Muktar Singh to collect the phones and take them to Jharkhand. The phones were then sold to Bangladeshi citizens near the India-Bangladesh border.

Police Involvement

The arrested police personnel, Ashok, Somanna, and Sai Ram, helped the gang members get released from police stations by taking money from them. This allowed the gang to continue their operations without getting caught.

The operation to arrest the gang was supervised by DCP S M Vijay Kumar and ACP S Mohan Kumar.
