Hyderabad Police Commissioner CV Anand and MAUD Principal Secretary Dana Kishore held a high-level meeting on Monday with officials from GHMC, Hydra, HMDA, Rachakonda, and Cyberabad Police to discuss traffic management during heavy rains.

On the instructions of Chief Minister Revanth Reddy, the meeting aimed to enhance coordination and deploy quick responses on roads and critical junctions during incessant, flash, and heavy rains for better traffic management and public safety.

The meeting emphasized a proactive, concerted response by all stakeholders and discussed immediate measures required at critical junctions. These measures include proper diversions, quicker transmission of weather forecast notifications and traffic advisories, improved signages, and engineering changes to prevent waterlogging and improve traffic flow.

Participants shared their observations and measures being implemented in their jurisdictions and departments. They also discussed immediate and long-term plans to decongest traffic.

The meeting decided to conduct a joint workshop and form a high-level committee comprising the traffic commissioner of Tri-Police Commissionerates, GHMC, and other departments. Other aspects discussed included liaising with IT companies, monitoring and maintaining water levels in major water bodies, leveraging technology, and establishing a common communication platform for all departments.

Vishwa Prasad IPS Addl. CP Traffic, Hyderabad; G. Sudheer Babu, CP Rachakonda; Avinash Mohanty, CP Cyberabad; and chiefs of Tri-Police Commissionerates, GHMC Zonal Commissioner, and other officials.
