Hungarian MP Balazs Orban Praises India’s Role in Russia-Ukraine Conflict and Strengthening India-Hungary Ties

New Delhi, India – Balazs Orban, the Political Director of the Prime Minister and Member of Parliament from Hungary, expressed his admiration for India’s growing influence on the global stage, particularly in resolving the Russia-Ukraine conflict. He commended External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar for his strong representation of India internationally.

During an interview, Orban stated, “Your foreign minister is doing a wonderful job. He is representing India in a very strong way on the world stage. India is a rising power. It is playing a more and more important role. It is playing in many conflicts, stabilizing role in the Ukrainian-Russian conflict as well. We think that we are on the same side, on the side of the peace, and we try to coordinate our efforts, to convince the parties, the two parties that are involved in that conflict, and all the potential mediators to do more to stop the bloodshed.”

Orban emphasized Hungary’s commitment to a peaceful resolution of the war. He also highlighted the importance of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s recent visit to Ukraine, describing such initiatives as crucial for global peace. Orban mentioned that his Prime Minister, Viktor Orban, had embarked on a Peace Mission Tour, visiting key global leaders to advocate for a new strategy to end the conflict.

Discussing India-Hungary relations, Orban noted the shared vision between the two countries. He expressed hope for higher-level visits between New Delhi and Budapest and pointed out the common values between the Hungarian Conservative Party and India’s BJP.

Earlier, External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar met with Balazs Orban in New Delhi, appreciating his interest in the historical connection between India and Hungary. In March, a parliamentary delegation from India visited Hungary, further strengthening diplomatic ties.

Diplomatic relations between India and Hungary are warm and multi-faceted, marking their 75th anniversary in 2023. Regular parliamentary exchanges continue to enhance this relationship.
