Hoshiyar Singh Criticizes Himachal Pradesh Government After Voting in Dehra By-Poll

Hoshiyar Singh, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) candidate from Dehra, cast his vote in the Dehra assembly constituency in Kangra district, Himachal Pradesh. After voting, he criticized the state government, led by Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu, for trying to dominate and scare people using administrative influence.

Singh stated, “This election has been the most exciting and difficult in the history of Himachal Pradesh. On one hand, there was an entire government machinery and the Chief Minister himself, and on the other hand, I was standing alone. The fight is tough.”

Polling for the assembly by-polls began at 7 a.m. and will conclude at 6 p.m. The by-poll in Dehra is part of a larger election across 13 assembly constituencies in seven states, including Bihar, West Bengal, Tamil Nadu, Madhya Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Punjab, and Himachal Pradesh.

In the Dehra segment, Singh faces competition from Kamlesh of the Indian National Congress (INC), who is also the wife of Chief Minister Sukhvinder Sukhu, and independent candidates Sulekha Devi, Arun Ankesh Syal, and Advocate Sanjay Sharma.

Other constituencies in Himachal Pradesh holding by-polls include Hamirpur and Nalagarh. The Hamirpur segment has candidates Ashish Sharma (BJP), Dr. Pushpinder Verma (INC), and independents Pradeep Kumar and Nand Lal Sharma. In Nalagarh, candidates include Hardeep Singh Bawa (INC), KL Thakur (BJP), Kishori Lal Sharma (Swabhiman Party), and independents Gurnam Singh, Harpreet Singh, and Vijay Singh.

By-polls are also being held in West Bengal’s Raiganj, Ranaghat Dakshin, Bagda, and Maniktala; Badrinath and Manglaur in Uttarakhand; Jalandhar West in Punjab; Rupauli in Bihar; Vikravandi in Tamil Nadu; and Amarwara in Madhya Pradesh.
