Honoring Captain N Kenguruse: 25th Anniversary Memorial Day in Nagaland

On June 29, a special ceremony was held at the Kenguruse War Memorial in Phezha, Nagaland, to honor the 25th anniversary of Capt. N Kenguruse’s supreme sacrifice during the Kargil War. Capt. Kenguruse, who bravely led an operation in harsh conditions, was posthumously awarded the Maha Vir Chakra, India’s second-highest gallantry award.

Event Highlights

The Governor of Nagaland, La Ganesan, was the chief guest at the event. He, along with Lieutenant General Harjinder Singh Sahi, paid homage by laying a wreath at the memorial. The Governor also lit the ‘Amar Jyoti’ torch and felicitated Capt. Kenguruse’s proud parents.

Governor’s Speech

Governor La Ganesan said, “Today, we stand united in our respect and admiration for Captain Kenguruse. His actions during the Kargil War exemplify the courage and patriotism of the people of Nagaland. We are proud of his legacy and will ensure that it continues to inspire future generations.”

Community Participation

The event was attended by many service personnel, ex-servicemen, villagers, and children. They pledged to uphold the values of service and courage embodied by Capt. Kenguruse. The ceremony served as a poignant reminder of the sacrifices made by the armed forces in defense of the nation.
