New Delhi, India – Union Home Minister Amit Shah met with Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu and MPs of the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) to discuss the progress of the nation and the state. Amit Shah shared on social media, ‘Had a meeting with the Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister, Shri @ncbnGaru and the MPs of the TDP. We discussed a wide range of subjects related to accelerating the nation’s and the state’s progress. The NDA government is committed to building a Viksit Bharat and a Viksit Andhra Pradesh.’

Earlier in the day, Chandrababu Naidu also met with Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Ministers Nitin Gadkari, Ram Mohan Naidu Kinjarapu, and Piyush Goyal in Delhi. A statement from the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) confirmed the meeting, ‘Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh, Shri @ncbn, met Prime Minister @narendramodi.’

This was the first meeting of CM Naidu with the Union cabinet ministers after he came to power in Andhra Pradesh. He had previously attended Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s swearing-in ceremony. The TDP is part of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) government.

The meeting is significant as Naidu has announced plans to rebuild Amaravati, the capital city of Andhra Pradesh, which will require central assistance and clearance. Naidu recently released a white paper on the Amaravati capital region, stating that the name ‘Amaravati’ was suggested by Ramoji Rao after research.

Additionally, the Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister is seeking special status for the state, a long-standing political issue. The support of the TDP, which secured 16 seats in Andhra Pradesh in the Lok Sabha polls, is crucial for the NDA to remain in power. The TDP, in alliance with the BJP and the Jana Sena, won 21 out of 25 seats in the Lok Sabha polls. The alliance also won the Andhra Pradesh assembly polls, leading to Chandrababu Naidu being sworn in as Chief Minister and Jana Sena Chief Pawan Kalyan becoming the Deputy CM.
