Indian Paralympics medallist Hokato Hotozhe Sema expressed his happiness after winning a bronze medal in the men’s shot put F57 final at the Paris Paralympics. He credited the Indian Army for their support and motivation, which helped him achieve this milestone.

Hokato, who holds the position of Naib Subedar in the Indian Army, said, “I feel blessed to be an Indian and be a part of the Indian Army. They supported us well and did not let us feel any shortage of training or diet.”

He also had a message for people with disabilities, urging them to embrace their challenges and use them as strengths to make their country proud.

Hokato’s coach, Rakesh Rawat, expressed pride in his pupil’s achievement but was disappointed that his other pupil, Soman Rana, could not win a medal. He also praised the Indian Army for their support.

In the medal match, Hokato recorded his personal best throw of 14.65 meters. Iran’s Yashin Khosravi won gold with a throw of 15.96 meters, and Brazil’s Thiago Paulino dos Santos took silver with a throw of 15.06 meters. Soman Rana finished in fifth place.

The Indian team concluded their historic Paris Paralympics campaign with a total of 29 medals, including seven gold, nine silver, and 13 bronze medals, surpassing their previous best at the Tokyo 2020 Paralympics.
