Hockey Jharkhand, Odisha, and Bengal Shine in Junior Men & Women East Zone Championship 2024

The second Hockey India Junior Men & Women East Zone Championship 2024 kicked off with thrilling matches at the Netaji Subhas Eastern Centre, Salt Lake, Kolkata. Teams from Hockey Jharkhand, Hockey Association of Odisha, and Hockey Bengal emerged victorious in both the men’s and women’s categories.
Women’s Category Highlights
In the women’s category, Hockey Jharkhand defeated Manipur Hockey 4-1. Hemrom Leoni, Pinki Kumari, and Barwa Purnima scored for Hockey Jharkhand, while Devi Mutum Priya scored for Manipur Hockey.
Hockey Association of Odisha had a massive 17-0 win against Assam Hockey. Goals were scored by Amisha Ekka, Ekka Sonali, Bhoi Doli, Neharika Toppo, Kujur Rambha, Yashoda, Supriya, Anushka Bhawre, Kujur Priyanka, and Captain Drupati Naik.
Hockey Bengal won 7-0 against Hockey Bihar with goals from Laltlanchhungi, Shanti Horo, and Silbiya Nag.
Men’s Category Highlights
In the men’s category, Hockey Jharkhand narrowly beat Manipur Hockey 1-0 with a goal from Dodray Sandeep.
Hockey Association of Odisha triumphed over Assam Hockey 13-0. Goals were scored by Deonath Nanwar, Karan Lakra, Pradip Mandal, Aryan Xess, Rohit Kulu, Sunil Lakra, and Adhikarimayum Suresh Sharma.
Hockey Bengal edged out Hockey Bihar 3-2. Bishnu Paswan and Ayush Prasad scored early for Hockey Bengal, but Hockey Bihar equalized with goals from Aakash Yadav and Lama Shanu. Bijay Shaw’s penalty corner goal secured the win for Hockey Bengal.
