Hockey India Sub-Junior Championship 2024: Young Players Compete in Kerala

The 2nd Hockey India Sub-Junior Men and Women South Zone Championship 2024 is set to begin in Kollam, Kerala, from July 19 to July 26. This exciting event will feature six teams in each category: Hockey Karnataka, Hockey Andhra Pradesh, Hockey Unit of Tamil Nadu, Telangana Hockey, Le Puducherry Hockey, and Kerala Hockey.

The competition will follow a round-robin format, where each team plays against every other team once. The top two teams will advance to the final, while the third and fourth-placed teams will compete for third place in a knockout match.

Hockey India President Dilip Tirkey expressed his excitement, saying, “We are thrilled to see the 2nd Hockey India Sub Junior Men and Women South Zone Championship bring together so much young talent. This championship is not only about winning but also about learning and growing as players. It provides a crucial platform for young players to showcase their skills and gain valuable experience.”

Hockey India Secretary General Bhola Nath Singh added, “Our junior players are the future of Indian hockey, and this championship is a fantastic platform for them to shine. We believe in their potential and are committed to providing opportunities for them to excel.”

The opening day promises thrilling encounters. In the women’s category, Telangana Hockey will clash with Hockey Andhra Pradesh, the Hockey Unit of Tamil Nadu will take on Le Puducherry Hockey, and Kerala Hockey will compete against Hockey Karnataka. In the men’s category, Hockey Andhra Pradesh will face Le Puducherry Hockey, Hockey Karnataka will square off against Telangana Hockey, and the Hockey Unit of Tamil Nadu will battle Kerala Hockey.
