Hindu Seva Parishad’s Dress Code Appeal for Navratri

Jabalpur’s Temple Dress Code Initiative

As the Shardiya Navratri festival begins, the Hindu Seva Parishad in Jabalpur, Madhya Pradesh, has put up posters at local temples. These posters request visitors to wear decent clothing, specifically advising women to wear sarees or salwar suits.

Guidelines for Temple Attire

The posters emphasize that both men and women should avoid wearing shorts, half pants, Bermudas, night suits, mini skirts, ripped jeans, and crop tops when visiting temples. Nitin Sonpali, City Vice President of Hindu Seva Parishad, stated that the organization aims to protect Sanatan culture and ensure that temples are respected as sacred spaces, not fashion venues.

Community Support

Shri Lal Mishra, the priest of Mahakali temple, supports this initiative, recalling similar efforts in the past. Many women visiting the temple also agree with the dress code, expressing a desire for traditional attire at religious sites.
