Hindu Mahasabha Members Arrested for Protesting Against Bangladesh Cricket Team in Gwalior
Around 20 members of Akhil Bharatiya Hindu Mahasabha were arrested in Gwalior, Madhya Pradesh, for protesting against the Bangladesh cricket team. The protest took place ahead of the first T20I match between India and Bangladesh, scheduled for October 6.
The members of the Hindu Mahasabha held a rally from their office in Daulatganj Lashkar, carrying black flags and chanting slogans against the Bangladesh team. They claimed they were protesting against the alleged atrocities committed against Hindus in Bangladesh. However, the police arrested them at Maharaj Bada area, stating that they did not have permission for the rally.
City Superintendent of Police Ashok Jadon explained that while the Hindu Mahasabha had been given a platform for protest and had submitted a memo, they lacked special permission for the rally. He warned that any future activities disturbing law and order would be met with strict action.
The first T20I match between India and Bangladesh was initially set to be held in Dharamsala but was rescheduled to Gwalior due to renovation work at the Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association’s facilities. This match will be the first international fixture at Shrimant Madhavrao Scindia Cricket Stadium since 2010, when Sachin Tendulkar scored a historic double century in an ODI against South Africa.
Following the two-match Test series, India and Bangladesh will compete in a three-match T20I series, with the first match in Gwalior on October 6, followed by matches in Delhi on October 9 and Hyderabad on October 12.
