Himanta Biswa Sarma Confident in BJP’s Victory and NRC Implementation in Jharkhand
In Ranchi, Jharkhand, Himanta Biswa Sarma, the Bharatiya Janata Party’s (BJP) election co-in-charge for Jharkhand and Assam’s Chief Minister, expressed confidence in the BJP winning the upcoming assembly elections. He emphasized the party’s plan to implement the National Register of Citizens (NRC) in the Santhal Pargana division.
Sarma accused the state government of being aware of “intruders” entering Jharkhand. He referred to an internal letter from the Jharkhand government that allegedly mentioned training for intruders at Madarsas and the issuance of Aadhar cards. Sarma stated, “We believe that after these elections, a BJP government will be formed, and we will implement NRC in Santhal Pargana.”
Additionally, Sarma called for the expulsion of Congress’ Irfan Ansari due to his “derogatory remarks” against Sita Soren.
BJP MP Nishikant Dubey also criticized the Congress and Jharkhand Mukti Morcha, claiming they are not concerned about tribal issues due to vote bank politics. Dubey alleged that Bangladeshi infiltrators are responsible for an 11% increase in the Muslim population in Santhal Pargana. He stated, “Until Bangladeshi infiltrators are sent back, the Bharatiya Janata Party will not sit peacefully.”
The Jharkhand assembly elections are scheduled for November 13 and 20, with 81 seats up for grabs. There are 2.60 crore eligible voters, including 1.31 crore male and 1.29 crore female voters. The state also has 11.84 lakh first-time voters and 66.84 lakh young voters. In the previous election, Jharkhand Mukti Morcha won 30 seats, BJP 25, and Congress 16.
