The Public Works Department (PWD) of Himachal Pradesh is working hard to restore normalcy in flood-affected areas. PWD Minister Vikramaditya Singh assured the public that the state is prepared for emergencies, especially with rain warnings from the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD).

Singh stated, “We are trying our best to search and restore the affected areas.” He mentioned that nearly 80 roads are closed, and the PWD has suffered a loss of 300 crore rupees. In Kullu and Shimla, search and relief operations are ongoing, with bodies being recovered. In Mandi, 8 bodies have been found, and 30 people are still missing. Rescue operations by the SDRF, NDRF, and other agencies are continuing.

Singh highlighted the need to restore infrastructure, mentioning the deployment of three bailey bridges and a request for additional bridges worth 20 crore rupees. He also noted that the Chief Minister has spoken to the Prime Minister and the Union Home Minister but no financial assistance has been received yet. Singh urged the Union government to support Himachal Pradesh, calling it the Prime Minister’s second home.
