On Friday, Himachal Pradesh Public Works Department (PWD) Minister Vikramaditya Singh met with Satish Kumar, Chairman and CEO of the Railway Board, in New Delhi. Singh discussed the stalled construction of a flyover at the HP Vidhan Sabha junction and a viaduct along the Victory Tunnel, urging Kumar to expedite approvals from Northern Railways to ease traffic congestion in Shimla.

Singh also addressed the expansion of the railway network, particularly the Bhanupali-Bilaspur railway line. Kumar assured that work would resume immediately and noted that the Bhanupali-Bilaspur line was progressing as planned.

Expressing gratitude, Singh thanked Kumar for his prompt action, which would help advance projects under the Smart City Project. Singh also participated in the National Urban Convention organized by the Praja Foundation, where he discussed urban development initiatives in Himachal Pradesh.

Singh highlighted that about ten percent of the state’s population lives in urban areas and the government aims to transform these areas into vibrant urban centers. He mentioned the implementation of the Urban Platform for Delivery of Online Governance (UPYOG) under the National Urban Digital Mission (NUDM), which aims to improve municipal public services through a comprehensive digital platform for all 60 urban local bodies.
